We were invited to a nearby students yard who had an abundance of oak trees. We are in charge of the fall supper decorations every year, and we immediately thought of a few crafts we could do with the acorn caps! Then, a group of students and a parent thought of the idea of turning some of the flesh into acorn flour! As you can see, it was a wonderful adventure that included a LOT of authentic, organic learning. Ahhhh, exhale, WHAT a way to start the week! Happy heart!
I'd like to leave you with a quote on this beautiful Friday!
"If we were meant to stay in one place, we would have roots instead of feet". Rachel Wolchin Routines, schedules, new shoes for those growing feet, and smiling faces whom I have missed SO incredibly much! Here we go back to school!
Welcome, everyone! We all have creativity, and it's so special to see ideas come to the surface in different ways! These two kiddos chose to create a see-saw out of a log that was laying on the ground.
Welcome back after the break! I hope you all had a chance to rest, relax, and enjoy the company of friends and family!
Wel, it might be chilly, but we are cozy in our classroom! One of the members of South mentioned that there was ice on our window....so, we captured it! We LOVE spending time with Gloria, and this morning was a clear example of that! One of the members of South created a beautiful home for Gloria, complete with ramps for accessibility, a second floor, and a safe place to snooze!
We really enjoyed collecting the neat leaves we found on the trail! Vibrant yellows, lime greens, ruby reds, and stop light orange...we are LOVING the colours of autumn out there!
We often enjoy meditating, and try to do this at least once per day! We find it relaxing, and it helps us practice mindfulness.
We all absolutely TREASURE our time spent out on the trail! Yesterday, we went out in the afternoon. We met at the tall grass, meditated, enjoyed a snack, and met up with East. We even found a BUNCH of green tomatoes! ....yes, tomatoes! Of course, we did bring them back. We are thinking of making salsa in the near future, now!
As we look around the school grounds, we notice the changes to our environment. The leaves are changing colour, the air is crisp, the chickens are extra cuddly (they missed the kids SO much), and the critters are out and about! This Woolly Bear caterpillar is taking a stroll under the watchful eye of the curious student who found it!
